The SR was built in 1970.  This car was originally owned by Malcolm Bricklin of the Bricklin Car Company.  The body id tag is # SR83H0.  Meaning it was the 83rd SR built.   The HO refers to the date the body was manufactured.  H-meaning August, and 0 meaning 1970.  Originally the car was silver, however it had been sitting in a gentlemen's back yard for 20 years.  So needless to say it had yellowed and needed paint.
    I have also verified that this particular car was one of the few (about 10) that we're factory built by BF Meyers.  After speaking with Stewart Reed, he (Stewart) says he remembers this car well.  Stewart told me the story of him, his wife & daughter driving this car from California to Pennsylvania for Malcolm, taking in a sight seeing trip along the way.
    After seeing a red car in many of the old magazines, I decided to paint the car Red.  I also changed the interior color from black to tan.  The seats are done in a tan tweed, and carpet is an imported German square weave.  I made a few minor modifications to the car, but it is mostly just as it was in 1970.  Even the old 8-track tape player is there.

Below you will find several pictures of the restoration in progress;

doors open.jpg (14970 bytes)  This is a picture of what the car looked like when I got it.  It was originally a silver gelcoat, however many years sitting in the sun took its toll on the color.  It had yellowed the original silver and needed to be painted.  The car needed lots of work, but it was complete and all there, original mirror, seats & 8 track tape player.   Wheels are Ansen Sprints.

11-17-99-1.jpg (21053 bytes)  11-17-99. Starting the restoration process. Striping the car down and repairing some fiberglass.

11-20-99-2.jpg (22551 bytes)  11-20-99. Most of the fiberglass repair is completed, getting ready for primer.

12-30-99-4.jpg (47615 bytes)  12-30-99.   Car is now in primer and ready to be block sanded.  Notice the old bias ply tires from the 70's still on it.

1-29-00-4.jpg (19139 bytes)  1-29-00.   Another coat of primer, Front end has been lowered.

3-4-00-1.jpg (18106 bytes)  3-4-00.   Here the car is about half painted.  I painted the hood, doors and deck lid separate.

3-20-00-1.jpg (22585 bytes)  3-20-99.   Me on "Vacation".  The complete car is painted, installing the lights & accessories.

3-23-00-1.jpg (16574 bytes)  3-23-00.   Getting closer.  Still have to finish the top section, install doors and interior.  New BFG Radial T/A tires, and I finished polishing the original wheels.
